Level of Autonomy for Virtual Human Agents

چکیده
This paper proposes a paradigm for specification of virtual human agents’ level of autonomy. The idea we present in this paper aims at optimising the required complexity of agents in order to perform realistic simulations. The paradigm is based on the distribution of the required virtual human agent “intelligence” to other simulation entities like groups of agents, and objects.

From Individual Human Agents to Crowds
In this paper, we first try to identify which mechanisms are to be simulated in order to implement truly virtual humans or actors. Starting from a structure linking perception, emotion, behaviour, and action, we emphasize the central concept of autonomy and introduce the concept of Levels of Autonomy. Finally, we propose a new abstraction for the specification of behaviours in complex virtual e...

متن کاملHierarchical Model for Real Time Simulation of Virtual Human Crowds
This paper describes a model for simulating crowds of humans in real time. We deal with a hierarchy composed of virtual crowds, groups and individuals. The groups are the most complex structure that can be controlled in different degrees of autonomy. This autonomy refers to the extent to which the virtual agents are independent of the user intervention and also the amount of information needed ...
متن کاملBehavior believability in virtual worlds: agents acting when they need to
Believability has been a perennial goal for the intelligent virtual agent community. One important aspect of believability largely consists in demonstrating autonomous behavior, consistent with the agent's personality and motivational state, as well as the world conditions. Autonomy, on behalf of the agent, implies the existence of an internal structure and mechanism that allows the agent to ha...
متن کاملDecentralisation and Management of Human Resource for Health in the Health System of Ghana: A Decision Space Analysis
Background The implications of decentralisation on human resource for health management has not received adequate research attention despite the presupposition that the concept of decentralisation leads to the transfer of management authority and discretion for human resource management from national levels to subnational levels. This study aims at investigating the extent to which decent...
